The OEM setup uses a rubber-isolated joint that wears over time and absorbs shift input instead of transferring it directly to the transmission. The Kartboy solid shift joint replaces that factory assembly with a precision machined solid connection for a more direct and consistent gear change. The Kartboy solid shift joint features solid stainless machined center cross tubes, press-fit bronze bushings, and precision machined stainless crush tubes for a bind-free design while still allowing proper bolt torque - this is a component built to last. There are two hard mounting points for the shift lever assembly, and Subaru (for some unknown reason) decided to use really soft rubber for each one. The problem this creates is a vague sloppy feeling in the fore\/aft motion of the stick which just leaves you with a blah feeling when you shift the car. Kartboy's bushings fix this by using a much stiffer urethane to replace each one making the shifting experience much better than what you are used to.
