TiC STi Front Klicky Kit Installation Instructions
The TiC Front Kicky Kit is made up of two separate sets of bushings. The
first is the TiC STi Shift Linkage bushings,
and the second is the famous Kartboy Front Shifter Stay Bushing. The
first thing to understand is that the TiC Shift Linkage Bushings
are not the same as the Kartboy bushing. The TiC Shift Linkage Bushings are for the actual shift linkage joint, whereas
the Kartboy bushing is for the front stay of the shifter assembly. We figured that a number of people would like to install the
Kartboy bushing at the same time as the TiC STi Shift Linkage Bushings so we put together the Klicky Kit so you could get them
both done at the same time. We also saved you a couple of bucks in the process, which is pretty cool.
Here's the deal: When you get the shifter assembly out of the car for the TiC bushings the bushing that Kartboy
upgrades is right there.
Check out the pic below:

The bushings that you replace for the TiC Shift Linkage Bushings are in the part labeled "The U-joint."
The Kartboy bushing goes in the front stay located just below the u-joint. In the pic it's labeled "Kartboy Bushing."
To get started follow the instructions for the TiC STi Shift Linkage Bushings. Those instructions can be found
here.
Following the instructions linked above you'll get the shifter assembly out of the car, and
you'll be looking at something like this:

See that gray plasticy round part in the loop at the end of the rod?
That's the Kartboy bushing.
The stock bushing is a really soft rubber one piece bushing that you'll be pushing out and replacing.
Here are the steps:
- Take a look at the shifter stay and notice how the stock bushing is in there.
- Grab the shaft for the stay just below the loop on the end in one hand.
- Using your thumb press on the metal shaft in the middle of the bushing.
- It should slowly come out with a moderate amount of pressure.
- Once you have it removed take a look at it and shake your head that Subaru would use something so wimpy on the mighty STi.
- The Kartboy bushing consists of three parts. Two bushing halves and a metal sleeve. Do not confuse this sleeve with the sleeves for the u-joint.
- Take each half of the Kartboy bushing and press them into each side of the loop until they are pressed in all the way.
- There may be a small gap between the end of the loop and the flange on the bushing, and that's ok as long as it's fairly small.
- Press the metal sleeve for the Kartboy bushing into the bore of the bushing.
- Sometimes it's a little tight so you may want to use the handle of a screwdriver so you don't hurt your thumb.
- When it's flush with the face surface of the bushing you are done
messing with the Kartboy bushing.
- Continue following the rest of the instructions for the TiC Shift
Linkage Bushing.
